公gōng山shān弗fú扰rǎo以yǐ费bì畔pàn，召zhào，子zǐ欲yù往wǎng。子zǐ路lù不bú说yuè，曰yuē，末mò之zhī也yě已yǐ，何hé必bì公gōng山shān氏shì之zhī之zhī也yě。子zǐ曰yuē，夫fú召zhào我wǒ者zhě，而ér岂qǐ徒tú哉zāi。如rú有yǒu用yòng我wǒ者zhě，吾wú其qí为wèi东dōng周zhōu乎hū。

公山弗扰占据费邑发动叛乱，来召请孔子，孔子想去。子路很不高兴，说：没有地方去也就罢了，何必一定要到公山氏那里去呢？孔子说：那召请我的人，难道会白白召我吗？如果有人肯任用我，我或许能在东方复兴周朝的政道吧。

James Legge Translation

1. Kung-shan Fu-zao, when he was holding Pi, and in an attitude of rebellion, invited the Master to visit him, who was rather inclined to go. 2. Tsze-lu was displeased, and said, "Indeed, you cannot go! Why must you think of going to see Kung-shan?"
